Since Ouida Mae was only a few weeks old I have been putting her in the garden tub with me and letting her float in the deep water. For the most part she has always loved her baths, and she has learned to kick and play in the warm water. Last week I tried supporting her on her belly for the first time and she smiled and giggled as she tried to lick the water.
This week we took her to the pool for the first time. I knew she liked to be in the water, but was more than a little apprehensive about how she would react to the temperature difference between the hot bath and the cool pool water. Turned out it wasn’t so bad…
Yesterday, Kimberly brought Ouida Mae to where I work and I got to show her around a bit. Everyone said she’s cute. Afterward we went with a few coworkers for some previously scheduled Thai food at Noodle House in La Vergne. Celina was gracious enough to take a few pictures for me.
Hi, Malachi here again.  Last weekend we went to Knoxville for Kimberly’s father’s wedding. We dropped the dogs off with a sitter. Things went fairly well except for the nearly constant rain (the wedding had been planned as an outdoor affair) and Kimberly forgetting her purse on Saturday (with all the changing stuff in it), making the day slightly more challenging than it had to be. But it worked out ok.
After the ceremony, JD, Kimberly’s father, gave Ouida Mae a tulip. She promptly tried to eat it and then destroyed it. Apparently it didn’t taste as good as it looked.

Saturday before last, Ouida Mae went to her first birthday party for her friend Callie at Wiggle Time in Cookeville. I (Malachi) didn’t go, but all reports indicated that she had a good time. Judging by this picture, I’m not totally sure.
Here is a bonus picture of Ouida teething a little bit. She weighed 14 lbs 3 oz at her last doctor visit.
Hi, Malachi here. Things have been busy lately. Ouida Mae seems to be teething, so she’s quite fussy and drooling on everything.
To cover some recent events, we went to visit family for easter. It was a hectic trip, as always, but what can we expect with a four month old baby and two dogs?
This past weekend, William, Heather, and Winry were in town to visit. It was the first time we got to see Winry, which was good, but Ouida Mae was sleepy and fussy so they didn’t get to play much. I didn’t get many good pictures, but Joey and Doug got a few.
Hopefully we will be back to our normal programming, I just thought it had been too long since the last update, and I didn’t want that stuff to get lost in the shuffle.
Last weekend Ouida Mae went to her first wedding. I didn’t get any photos of her myself but there were plenty taken of her at the wedding. The ceremony was outdoors at Cheekwood Botanical Garden and was rushed to get everyone inside due to bad storms. There were tornadoes spotted in several places around middle Tennessee that afternoon. Unfortunately our deck table was a casualty of the storm. I am still trying to figure out the best way to get all the glass splinters cleaned up.
Sunday night Ouida Mae attended her first birth. She barely made a peep the whole night. She is still such a calm and happy baby.
On Thursday I left Ouida Mae with a sitter for the first time. I have been having a lot of pain in my shoulder from trying to work on my computer while rocking with her in the rocking chair so Marecha (my midwifery partner) offered to keep her while I saw the massage therapist. I did not worry about leaving her with Marecha, but just as I was leaving my massage another massive storm started up. The wind and rain were horrible, and I actually witnessed the effects of what was later confirmed to be an F1 tornado. Tree limbs were flying through the air and the traffic lights looked like they were going to snap off their cables and fly away. Two tractor trailers were blown over on the interstate within minutes of the time I drove by the site. It was very scary, but I just wanted to get back to my baby!
The weather has been beautiful when it’s not being brutal, so today we took advantage of the sun (before the winter weather advisory tomorrow) to take Ouida Mae for her first picnic.
