I've been way too busy this week. Three of us at work have to do a demo of .NET technology tomorrow. It's partial payment for the fact that we got to go to MS TechEd last month. We were at work until 8:00pm working on our presentation.
When I got home, Joey went to dinner at O'Charley's with Kimberly and me.
When we got back I noticed that the courtesy officer (the cop that lives at our apartment complex) was in his car, which is uncommon, but I didn't think much about it. Joey lfet as soon as we got back.
I had a few things I had to do outside. Some things to put in the car, some trash to put in the dumpster, and a dog to walk. When I went outside there were two cop cars sitting in the parking lot between our building and the next one. They were running, but they were empty. I didn't think much about it. I went about my business.
A few minutes later I went outside again and there were six metro police cars. I was kind of freaky. A few minutes later I went outside again and there were eight cop cars.
I went back inside and asked Kimberly if she had every seen eight cop cars in the same place outside of a doughnut shop. She was amused and wanted to see, so we went out to look and there were eleven cop cars! We started to get worried.
I was working on making tissue-foil paper out in the breezeway, and I saw a guy dressed in camo. I assume he was a cop. Two commerical vans showed up, but they were too far away to identify them clearly. We later found out that one of them was the metro mobile negotation unit.
Kimberly went to walk the dog, and a man in the bushs next to the playground told her to go back inside. We later confirmed that it was a police sniper.
Since I had a presentation to give the next day, I went to bed, but Kimberly stayed up and found out from the people above us that it was a hostage situation because this guy's girlfrend dumped him.
At 5:30am he finally gave himself up. He didn't have any hostages after all. The best estimate is that there were more than 30 cop cars. Pretty freaky.
